Please keep my cat, casey, in your prayers and send positive energy his way. Tomorrow he is having surgery to remove a lump from his shoulder area. He is 10yo and i have him since he was a kitten. He is more than a pet to me, he is a family member. The lump was formed by a cortisone shot he received. He has feline dermatitis and has had it his whole life. The dermatitis is similar to eczema in people. It is not caused by flea bites as i treat both my cats with frontline plus. When he was diagnosed with the condition i changed his diet as recommended by his vet and added supplements to no avail. He has been receiving cortisone shots on a regular basis from his bet to control the rash, inflammation and itching. After his last cortisone shot he developed a small lump at the injection site. The vet thought it was just inflammation and we waited for it to reduce. It was almost overnight it began to grow in size and continued to grow. Tomorrow morning he will have surgery to have it removed. A biopsy is going to be done after removal. A biopsy was done at his last appointment but it was unable to be determined if it is cancer or not. I have already if it is cancer i will not put him thru chemo or radiation as he would not understand the torture. The quality of life is more important that the quantity. The lump has been irritating him recently with him trying to scratch it. I have been cleaning it with diluted hydrogen peroxide and putting bacitracin to prevent infection the last few days.
