Please show up to Free the Ponies this Mon., Oct. 6, 6 PM, Delfina Hotel, 530 Pico, Santa Monica, when the Ocean Park Association (OPA) discusses the animal exhibits at the Main Street farmers market. The pony ride operator and Joel Pollack of Breitbart News will ask the OPA Board to keep the ponies tethered to a metal bar, circling for hours on hard concrete during the scorching heat. Not right. Not humane. Recently, the city council voted to explore an alternative venue and to lend preference to non-animal vendors when the current operators permit expires next May. The pony ride operator wants to reverse this decision. Oppose such a reversal. We need animal rights activists and neighbors who care about promoting humane treatment of animals to show up, speak up, and politely engage the Ocean Park Association Board members.
