Police have charged a woman following an alleged stabbing in Lithgow overnight. Just after midnight (Sunday 4 May 2014), two women, aged 39 and 69, became involved in an argument at a home on Barton Street. It’s alleged the younger woman armed herself with a knife and stabbed the older woman. The two women, who are known to each other, travelled in a taxi to Lithgow Hospital where the injured woman received treatment for stab wounds to her arm and back. Her injuries are not considered life threatening and she remains in hospital in a stable condition. The younger woman continued from the hospital to Lithgow Police Station, where she spoke to police and was arrested. Officers attached to Chifley Local Area Command attended the home and established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist forensic officers. The younger woman was later charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and granted strict conditional bail to appear before Lithgow Local Court on Thursday 8 May 2014.
