He doesnt want to have a local mutiny which would tie him to this region .He knew that this Man is innocent but his self interest over rides Justice.To be fair he suggests a comprise which the local chieftains reject.His wife pleads with him to release this Man.Ultimately self interest and career progress prevails over Truth.At the same time he does not want to be accused of killing this innocent Man.One more comprise;he hands this Man to local chieftains to judge Him according to their tribal laws.
