~Prayer of Faith~ There is a saying that love covers a multitude of sins. I am not sure of the veracity of that statement but certainly one of the most often used pieces of scripture from the New Testament used at weddings is 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7 and I think it says a lot to all of us…not just newlyweds. “Love is patient, love is kind. “It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self seeking, it is not easily angered. “It keeps no record of wrongs. “Love does not delight in evil but rejoices in the truth. “It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” One of the hardest trials in life is when someone you love lets you down badly. In this sort of situation you can easily become so filled with anger, bitterness even loathing that you forget the very reason you were with them. They may have forgotten but it is imperative that you (we) remember the passage above. ……it is not easily angered. ….always hopes and keeps no record of wrongs. The point is if we don’t follow the instruction we will carry around baggage that accumulates for the rest of our life. I well remember the Lord saying to me one time about another matter…”Dennis, I want you to get a picture in your mind of me standing in front of you. “Now I want you to put your concerns, worries, anger and bitterness into a box…then I want you to hand that box to me. “And Dennis I want you to see yourself let go….hand it to me and take your hands off it! Do not leave one hand on because that is not trust or faith. “Then having done that feel my peace as I take the burden from you and replace it with my love for you.” That was very precious to me and I needed it then and do now. So when love around you seems to be sliding out the back window try and get the image that the Lord gave me. Love is something that everyone needs and though it may be taken for a time however short or long, remember it can return but God’s love is now and eternal. And sometimes one door closes and another opens for God is the maker of seasons. Dennis Booth
