Predictably, the situation is escalating and we are looking at the possibility of a full-scale strike during the coming precious final weeks of the school year. The government would have you believe that this is because teachers are greedy, and that there simply isnt any money to put into education. These are lies and we need your help getting the truth out. -> BC Teachers havent had a wage increase in 4 years and are currently the 2nd lowest paid in the country. They arent greedy, they simply would like to keep up with the cost of living. -> BC Teachers have lowered their wage demands, including a 0% increase in the next 2 years, and the government has responded with nothing. -> The BC Government has not put a single dollar on the table with regards to class size and composition despite the BC Supreme Court ordering classroom size and composition to return to 2002 levels. -> The BC government has been found GUILTY by the Supreme Court of bargaining in bad faith with the BCTF and trying to provoke a strike for political ends. -> The BC government underfunds education to the tune of $1000 LESS per student than the national average -> If there is no money for education as the BC government claims, that can only be the result of a severe mismanagement of our tax dollars. We need to spread these truths. Talk to everyone you know about the issue. Gently and persistently challenge misinformation. This battle can be won in the court of public opinion, if we are all willing to stand up for public education. . · Share.
