Preference or Demand Dan C. Crenshaw In relationships there is a big difference In preferring and demanding. Demanding can spark a power struggle creating a stressful relational division. A preference can accept a yes or no and avoid an intense derision. To prefer gives respect to the other person’s wishes. It is not so self-centered which can result in relational glitches. To demand creates a command that puts communication in a constricting relational coop. To prefer can enrich communicative exchange that can provide a quality relationship of stimulating relational change.
