Preparing myself for a long, heated battle with Social Development. It was bad enough it took them years to put me through the process of applying for disability, only to deny me disability income assistance only because Ben has a job. They wont grant assistance unless our TOTAL HOUSEHOLD INCOME (not just mine, or just Bens, both) is under $900. Seriously, rent and power alone is $900, and our rent is cheap compared to the majority of Fredericton! Not to mention I have to consume a 5000 calorie per day diet, and we all know food is far from cheap. They also have denied me coverage for a health-sustaining dietary supplement that costs us out of pocket $14 every two days. Oh, and along with that denial letter they sent me a package to apply for assistance, which as I stated, they already denied me. Real cute, huh? But wait, it gets better! Today, I was billed $1400 for my hospital stay back in March because I was unable to attend a meeting with them to update my file, to which I addressed the situation with my case worker prior to the meeting, and was told I would have my health card extended until I could come attend said meeting. I guess they dropped the ball there because not only was I billed for the private room I was admitted to (because I have CF I MUST be in a private room), my at-home oxygen went without payment by Social Development for months! I wasnt even informed about that until July when I got the call from Vital Air! This is truly just the tip of the iceburg. I am so livid that I cant begin to recall the dozens of incidents that have occurred over the last 4 years. I am truly exhausted with everyone playing stupid, as well as blatantly avoiding me all because I SERIOUSLY need assistance. Im SERIOUSLY sick, Im SERIOUSLY going to be getting a double lung transplant, and Im SERIOUSLY tired of the government treating me like a joke. This MUST end NOW!!!!
