Pres. Kenyattas decision to remain in Nigeria in the aftermath of terror attacks is misguided. The Presidents paramount responsiblity is to protect the sovereignty of the Republic, and defend its citizenry from harm, both in homeland and abroad. DPs assertion that NSIS & security agencies have averted major attacks should be treated with lukewarm acceptance. The enemy combatants warned us, when we declared war on their homeland, that they will attack us using our own citizenry. They said that this will be a guerrilla warfare and we should have thus prepared our defense for such attacks after we entered Somalia. These attacks show a pattern. The very poor and vulnerable are most attacked because the elites and the corporations have well organized systems of protection. What the Govt need to do is to develop a response that is effective, that saves lives and educate the masses on commom response strategy that incorporate their involvement. I am not sure why the NYS, APs and other non essential security agencies have not been posted to perform random surveillance on soft spots. But in Kenya everything is pure politics.
