CREATED Aug 8, 2014 Five words from legendary Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre describe his relationship with his old team, six years after their breakup. The ice has been broken, he said on 620WTMJs Wisconsins Morning News. That step happened earlier this week when the Packers announced that Favre will have his jersey retired and be inducted into the teams Hall of Fame in 2015. However, he plans to be back beforehand. You will see me more in Green Bay, said Favre. I would like to go to a game in Green Bay this year and get that behind me. We havent set a date yet. The reason for no date set yet? Hes a proud dad of a volleyball-playing daughter back in his hometown of Hattiesburg, Miss. Our youngest daughter..they start their first volleyball match tomorrow. They will play through the fall. I want to watch every game. Thats the only reason for the delay in the reunion to come. However, in the six years since he left to go to the New York Jets, then Minnesota Vikings, he says there were things that you wish you would have done different, what ifs. You cant go back. Thats the one thing I finally said, It is what it is. Its over. Its done with. You cant change that. You can change today and the future. I really dont hold any regrets through my career. That goes from day one until the end. He said he was definitely proud of his 20 year career, particularly the 16 years I played in Green Bay. For the true fans, they know I played as hard as I possibly could. It wasnt perfect, wasnt the best at times, but I laid it on the field every time. Im very proud of it. He admitted the way things ended in Green Bay is very unfortunate. We all can look back at something in our life...I share as much blame as anyone. Its over and done with. Were underway in getting a resolution here and its a good thing. We move on. We move past it. I can sit here and name so many things from a regret standpoint that I do regret, but theres nothing I can do about it know but change from this thing forward. He said that particularly in the two years he played with the Minnesota Vikings, he felt a disconnect, but I thought that disconnect would only be for that period of time when I was a Viking, and understandably so. He cited a fellow Packers-turned-Vikings player, Greg Jennings, who I have talked to, same thing. The list goes on and on...theres always that disconnect for that moment. I did feel that. I think everyones right that it is time to put it behind us and move on. Favre wasnt just serious in his discussion on 620WTMJ. He also talked about Wisconsin food. I had a brat, but I never had cheese curds, not that I didnt like them. I dont know. I like cheese on a cheeseburger. Not a plain old cheese guy. Favre said the transition from Hattiesburg to Green Bay during his career was easy. Green Bay was a lot like Hattiesburg, the size, the makeup, the people. The obvious difference is that its a lot colder in Green Bay and a lot hotter here. When we left here and went to Green Bay, the transition - if you even want to call it a transition - was very simple. We had friends...we did do things within the town. His last visit to Wisconsin was a hunting trip where no one recognized him. I came back to hunt two years ago, the first year after I retired. My brother-in-law and his father, we drove up to Wisconsin. A good friend of mine...has a place in Clintonville. Hes got a little camphouse at Shawano Lake. We stayed there eight days and no one knew I was in town at all. Did he kill anything? Apparently, his gun was not as accurate as his passing arm. I killed time, he admitted. The three of us did not kill anything.
