Proslaughter claims that they slaughter between 1to 2 percent of - TopicsExpress

Proslaughter claims that they slaughter between 1to 2 percent of horses which is minute amount. However, if they have 5 plants 3 US and 2 Canada and Mexico then it will require nearly 5 percent to be fully operational for all five plus more to come. 5 percent of 9.2 million horses which doesnt include the annual deaths of 900,000 from all sources but slaughter. So its somewhere closer to only 7 million horses including the annual foals and then annual slaughter stats we are closer to 6.5 million and they will need 5 percent to run the plants 2 percent of 9 million was 184,000 so now change it to 5 percent of 6.5 million and we cant afford to have slaughter. We need to stop the use of outdated numbers giving a false sense of the numbers of horses in America. It takes 2 yrs to get growth in foals for any purpose and we cant eliminate another 5 percent annually of aged horses. We cant afford the losses at that level. Overbreeding without buyers who can provide homes is unecessary and therefore a reason to eliminate slaughter. We cant put the Rest of horse industry in Jeopardy for slaughter. We have too many people employed in the industry who count on live horses in order to make a living, we cant afford 5 percent of too few horses.
