Protests lack of growth in NIT Faridabad.... Faridabad, December 27 A large number of activists of the INLD held a demonstration here today against alleged lack of development works in the NIT assembly constituency of the district. The protesters, led by INLD district president Nagender Bhadana, also submitted a memorandum to Municipal Corporation Commissioner D Suresh and urged him speedy development of the NIT area. Earlier, they held a demonstration near the MCF headquarters and raised anti-government slogans. The NIT assembly constituency is presently represented by Haryana Labour Minister Shivcharan Sharma in the Vidhan Sabha. Bhadana had earlier contested unsuccessfully from the constituency. Addressing the protesters, Bhadana alleged that the corporation also discriminated against various areas within the NIT segment with regard to development. He said in 2002, the then INLD government had sanctioned Rs 18 crore for Dabua Colony to lay sewage pipes in it. But the subsequent Congress government tampered with the project and reduced the money, he added. — TNS
