Tshimangadzo Emmanuel Makhokha who was born at Luvhalani village near Makhado in Vhembe 37 years ago is a registered tax practitioner and a director at Khoza Development Properties where he bought a stake. “For the record I don’t like assumption by those who say because I am a member of the ANC it means I am buddy to Julius Malema. They even claim I bought the house on his behalf. Me and Malema are political rivals,” Makhokha told The New Age. He said if anything, he was a political comrade to Lehlogonolo Masoga, the new MEC for the provincial Roads and Transport. “It was in 2010 during the ANCYL conference in Makhado that we were attacked by police with water cannons. I was one of those who were lobbying for Masoga against the other group,” he said. He said even during the ANC provincial elective conference at Turfloop he was backing Deputy Minister of Arts and Culture Joe Phaahla for the provincial chair. “I remember even at the ANCYL national conference at Galagar Estates I was a lobbyist for Lebogang Maile to take over the leadership,” said Makhokha. For a living, he describes himself as businessman who does many things “For instance I am a trained security guard and now I am still a practising tax practitioner, I can even do some electrification,” he said. Makhokha is a married father of four, a business and politician.
