QUETA GIVES ME SEVERAL CAR BATTERIES. There were four old car batteries sitting under the loading dock that were out of date and no good. Queta Davies as the family name is told me that most of them are no good and one was in doubt, they are to be thrown away but not yet, wait until her husband John comes with his truck, he’s been talking of having a clean out, she would mention the batteries to him and he will make the final decision about what to do with them. How would you get rid of them if John does give them to you? I’ll call a Simsmetal driver with a small pick up for it, I got his business card and he will take steel and copper, aluminium and the batteries. He has a skails on the back of the truck. When John came, she mentioned it to him and he said, for starters, take those three but leave the other one, it may still be alright we don’t know. I took the three batteries he indicated and stashed them under the house. I waited until morning after breakfast and took an outsized forklift battery on the front of the bicycle with me. That battery Queta told me came with her little car, when she first bought the Mini Honda second hand, the car dealer who sold it to her didn’t have a proper car battery, he only had a recharged heavy duty forklift battery that he fitted in with lot of mucking around. It gave the car lot of use but it gave up the ghost. I told her how I bought the truck before from Multidrives, they didn’t have a truck battery so they put in a little Mini Honda battery that gave up the ghost within few months of me buying the truck but I had a brand new car battery I bought as back up for the Ford Escort before and I installed it in the truck. I had to muck around to change the size of the battery compartment to fit it in because the battery was too big to fit in place but it did the job to get me mobile. I took the big battery with me to Simsmetal at Bowen Hills and saw the old guy with the small pick up there. I sold the battery at the depot and told him, come to my place and get the junk that I have there. Several car batteries and there’s some steel take the lot from under the house. Where are you situated at? When I said the house where Majeu Transport used to be, he said, oh I know the place, two story dark green house on the bank of Breakfast Creek opposite the Brisbane Sanitation Recycling depot. They are Cleanaway now I said. I’ll come Sunday he said, whenever you collect up junk you want to sell give me a buzz on the number on the card I gave you before after five Saturday and I’ll be out on Sunday. He came Sunday morning and got it all including an empty five gallon kerosene drum with the hubs and the bike spokes that I had sitting under there. It was weighed up and I made money out of it for recycling.
