Question! Ive recently fired back up my own personal gas forge, and havent been able to get higher-than-average temperatures. Certainly not hot enough to forge weld. I have done some research that suggests that adding firebrick (I have built a rectangular area within the forge that is stable) creates a smaller combustion chamber that prevents proper amounts of oxygen to accelerate the combustion of the propane. Ive had quite a few experienced folks look at it, and we havent been able to puzzle it out yet.
