Question, and I really want your POVs. Its about 3:30. Despite meds, Im up after nightmares. Im shaking all over. Yesterday, at a farewell reception, one woman came to me, asked how I was doing after the last month. I told her physically okay, if you dont count my gut or other things, but emotionally, pretty bad. Mentioned that I was having a LOT of therapy appointments, have to take sleeping pills, constant day and nightmares...but that I wish knew his name, how to, maybe, send a card to the guy, we pray for him, put his name on too Temple prayer rolls...I was grateful I wasnt hurt, and that we had really good car insurance. Beyond that, it was a horrible accident and couldnt do any more, but wish I had a general sense of how he was. She replied: Im not going to give you any names, but I know his parents and family. His wife had their baby the next day. She then proceeded to give me just enough gory details to put me in a tailspin. I couldnt breathe, started sweating and shaking, and had to hold off the sobbing. Suddenly, he went from being an anonymous guy to...I dont know, a real guy? Not that I could be any sorrier, or crushed. My question: Would you have done that to anyone? I cannot and would not even think to compare my stuff to what guessed to be his. I had an inkling because of what Ive been thru with my hips, back, neck, shoulers, etc. Years of physical therapy, recurring surgeries, and all the other new, related problems. I did not need to hear it all in glorified color. Or - did I? Was she, in some way, out of line? Other than adding this new info, I have nothing else about it. Would you have said anything like this to someone in a similar situation? I feel like Im back to July 3rd, the day after. I didnt know Id react like this; I truly do not believe she was playing gotcha, trying to hurt me (at least, I hope not!). As John Quinones (?) might say, What would you do?
