RAILA ODINGA AND UHURU KENYATTA - Lessons to the Kenyan Youth. An appetent follower of the relations of Raila Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta will cognize many different occasions when the two leaders (who are perceived as arch rivals by their respective supporters) have come together and shown great amiability. A number of these occasions include public events, family gatherings , times of great tragedies etc. Such maturescence has impacted greatly in providing the necessary truce, however temporary, to a nation sitting literally on a precipice on account of deep seated tribal prejudice and bigotry on a number of occasions. In deed a proper Inquisition on the working relations between Raila and Uhuru will bring to light business ties that cover various key sectors of the Countrys economy. And you will realize that unlike their supporters who will take to the streets with much glee whenever mass protests are called , these two leaders will be very cautious of social upheavals that are known to affect business Unfortunately, and despise this open show of friendship and partnership the youth of our beautiful country never find any compunction or presentiment in going for the jugular of fellow youth who are perceived as political opponents and enemies. These wars have become common place on social media and are symbolic of the ethnic tensions across the country. In deed,they must be viewed as early warning signs of a nation being torn apart because of negative ethnicity. This state of affairs is politically divisive, economically obstructionist, socially unacceptable and is a clear show of a generation without ideology. Instead of building networks across the nation to gain access to opportunities, the Luo youth are perpetuating some misguided and divisive slogan of Gin gin gin ( They are them ), Wan wan wan ( We are we ); Instead of creating a rapport between the talented brains from the Lakeside ,the Kikuyu youth on their part are perpetuating some biologically irrelevant notion of unsuitability for them with the foreskin!. Hilarious. Elsewhere, and throughout history,whenever young people have been exposed to ideals through leadership, religion, education and parental instruction, they have tended to respond with that single minded intensity which is their special quality. One wonders then,the identity of our generation who cannot realize that idealism cannot be promoted through parochialism. Seizing our moments ,living our dreams will only be possible by opening new vistas of partnerships, breaking the barriers and establishing seamless networks to commute ideas. It is my greatest wish that we, as a generation ,will listen less to the false words of the leaders of the two political coalitions ( Cord and Jubilee ), but observe more on their actions that are informed by common elitist interests.
