READ THROUGH THE NEW TESTAMENT IN 260 DAYS Fri...March 14th...Day 52... Luke Chapter 9 Jealousy. envy, spitefulness...does this sound like a description of the twelve disciples? In vs. 46 they argue among themselves over which was to be the greatest, an argument that would continue through the Last Supper. In vs.49 we see envy as they want to stop someone from driving out demons, simply because they werent in THEIR group. In vs.54 we see spitefulness as they ask to call down fire on a town that refused them hospitality. It is easy to explain these away, the disciples had not yet received the indwelling of the Holy Spirit Jesus promised at Pentecost. They knew ABOUT Jesus; but He had yet to be revealed to them through the discernment of the Holy Spirit. The question is, how do we explain these same traits today? Jealousy among preachers, envy among denominations and organizations, spitefulness among professed Christian brothers and sisters? We worship certain pastors and evangelists instead of Gods Word. Pastor groupies are as real as rock-n-roll groupies, you will find them in most every church... There are even some reading this who resent my writing these daily posts. Jealousy, envy, spitefulness, all still alive and well...and Satan smiles.
