REASONS WHY I WILL NOT JOIN THIS STRIKE. 1. A lot of young public sector workers were denied their September 2014 salaries in the name of No bank account Our Union leaders did not find it necessary to declare a strike in solidarity!!! 2. A lot of young workers have not received their salaries for months/years. That is not a concern for our Union leaders at all!!! 3. Even those young workers who recieved their salaries after months/years, were paid only 3 months arrears! Our Union leaders saw it as a mind your own business thing. No concrete action was taken in their support. 3. A number of young workers got their promotions since September 2013. A year on, they are yet to be placed on the right scale let alone paid their arrears. Again our Union leaders saw it as normal!!! 4. Trainees of the various health institutions are yet to recieve their first allowance after two years (although their allowances have not been abolished by govt). Nothing was declared in solidarity. In fact when they went on a demonstration to demand their allowances, we heard some Union leaders who are Principals of these health institutions threatening to sack these students! Is it the case that our Union leaders are only concerned with issues that affect them directly. Is it the case that most of our Union leaders are old men who are due for retirement so they want to use the Union to get a better pension? I am at work and will continue to work for God and country. I disagree with our union leaders on the grounds of principle...
