REWARD OF SERVICE TO GOD AND MAN: …. Whosever will be great among you, let him be your minister, and whosever will be chief among you, let him be your servant (Mathew 20:26-27). The responsibility of service is the key to greatness. The opening scripture underscores this truth; the word minister is from the Greek word “diakonos” and it means a servant or an attendant, one who serves or runs errands for others. As Christian, we’ve been called to service; both of God and of mankind. God is mindful and concerned about people more than anything else. So when you’re concerned about serving people through your work, the Lord will be mindful of your success and prosperity; He’ll cause everything you so to prosper. The Bible says there s profit in all labour (Proverbs 14:23). In other words, when you faithfully render services, you’ll surely prosper. You may be a trader, cleaner, teacher, traffic-warden, policeman, civil servant, or even the chief executive of bank; it doesn’t matter the job or business you do, when goal is to render quality service, your greatness will be inevitable. But greed has stooped many from serving the nation and people as they should. Don’t let the desire to have be your driving force in life. Greed is the under ambition for gain and inordinate desire to amass wealth for oneself. Refuse to yield yourself to it, don’t allow greed to rule your life, trade, business or profession; rather, become motivated by the service. Be inspired by the importance and relevance of your job or business towards the betterment of society. Make yourself needed, relevant and indispensable to your generation by choosing to serve, for that is the pathway to greatness. Be inspired to serve. Prayer Dear heavenly Father, I thank you for inspiring me today to be service conscious, and to be motivated by the dream of impacting others with the investment of my personality. I pray that you’ll grant me increased grace and wisdom to serve you and those for whom Christ died, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
