RIP Frontier Airlines. I remember watching DC8s coming in to Hastings Nebraska when I was but wee tyke. Since then Ive flown frontier as much as I could. To Mexico and domestically, there was no one better. Each plane with a quirky animal on its tail telling jokes all the way. This weekend I flew to Los Angeles and got charged $40 extra for two seats just so they wouldnt separate my 8 yr old and her father. $50 extra so I could take a carry on. I watched as a callous flight attendant insulted a short woman, then refused to help her, who couldnt get her bag (that she paid $50 to carry on) into the overhead. I paid 6 bucks for Danis video and promptly watched it fizzle till it quit. And I watched as a passenger who couldnt get his CC to swipe on the same video screen in front of his seat, escorted off the plane at LAX by armed homeland security agents. I spent mon morn on a conference call with my friend Elaine who has been trapped in Mexico for two days because Frontier had some navigation problems with the route. They refused to let her board another airline because they were an ultra low fare airline now, even though she was a Summit member and even declined to let her speak to a supervisor. $962 later she boarded a flight she booked by herself on another airline. During the 35 minute call, never once did the terse agent apologize for the inconvenience that left her two friends still down there till Thursday. Ive flown frontier exclusively for over 20 years. Never again.
