ROAD BLOCK Dear MoWHS, Greetings of love and happiness from the Simtokha -Wangdue Primary Highway block. This not a complaint yet a big problem for road travellers. This morning we rushed to cross the block before it would close according to the timings given on the website that we printed on Friday at 5:40PM. The Simtokha to Wangdue Primary Highway opening time 6 AM to 8 AM. We started at 5:45AM and reached the Wangdue Block point at 7:42 AM and we were blocked. Simply because the timing for block had changed from 8 AM -10:30 AM TO 7 AM - 9AM . This means we would have to stand on the road side for more than an hour. We are travelling to Bumthang and thus we will be late by that much time to our destination which is another 220km. It seems what changes on the ground does not necessarily change on the internet. How are we going to be informed regularly. I donot listen to radio or watch TV but definitely visit the websites for infirmation. Definitely, it gives us time to reflect on the road side...helps us meditate at the cost of our travel time. This is not bad ... a chance for enlightenment. There are many cars already waiting at the site and more join us. If they all knew the new change in timing, would they be in the line now? There is a flourishing mobile canteen which keeps changing its base because they know stupid people like us will always need to wait on the blocks. Can the Ministry not do the construction work simply differently to help us...the stupid people. There is electricity everywhere...the nights can be most fertile time for work. As it entails a National Need and as well brings difficulties with it for travellers, the road could be closed between 8 PM to 8AM. No travellers needs to become stupid and the Ministry can without interruptions continue the road expansiom work. Workers can sleep during the day and work in the night. I am confident that the Ministry will consider this proposition simply becuase electricity is everywhere and can be employed for such need in the national interest. Information on changing the timing will always fail...this is not my fist time I am stuck on the road while i consider myself a little less stupid a bit educated. I am a regular commuter between Bumthan-Thimphu-Bumthang. The blocks become public place and there is also no urinal... it is killing to be blocked with no toilets for hours together. I wonder what the tourist think about our stupidity? They are always in the block because travel afencies also fall prey to the chaning block timings. Please do something.....and enjoy the pictures.
