Rant: Hoping today (or possibly tomorrow) is the end, FINALLY, of workers traipsing in and out of our home. I am grateful that they are fixing things, but it seems to be taking forever. As of this coming weekend, we will have been here one month. I wont even tell you how many days since weve had a proper, soaking complete shower. I dont think we have ever had three days in a row without something in some plumbed region or another causing issues - ever since the day we were moving in. Water was turned off. AC was turned off. Turns out they shut the AC and the water purposely due to an unadmitted issue with leaks, which was not addressed before we moved in. Water turned ON, and it was discovered a section of pipe had been stolen. Sent gallons over water spewing into the side yard, which was entertaining. Hole knocked in garage to replace stolen pipe pipe, pipe replaced, wall not replaced.. Water leaking in kitchen ceiling, into ceiling light. Ceiling painted before we moved in, watery light left in place. Toilet begins pouring water from tank, being a weekend are told to wait til Monday. Plumber tightens bolt in tank and fixes toilet. Hole knocked in ceiling to fix kitchen light problem. (day one) Drywall guys fix holes in garage and kitchen (day two) Adobe guy adobes over drywall. Needs to let it dry (day three) Adobe guy paints over drywall. (Day four) Kitchen overhead flourescent light now replaced. Problem with air conditioning condensation pooling up, hole knocked in ceiling, light not replaced. Light in mud room discovered to be full of water. Assumed it was also from air conditioner condensation. Light drained, but waiting on new one. Toilet backed up. Toilet water pouring through light fixture into mud room. Told to wait over the weekend since we have a third toilet not causing any problems. Toilet snaked. A blockage was found and fixed. Drywall in mud room and both baths removed, linoleum pulled up. Toilets removed, had never been seated properly. Industrial fans placed for 5 days, to dry water from toilet leak. Drywall fixed and painted. New light fixture in mud room (about three lightning bugs worth) - bathroom lighting? New light fixture in kitchen FINALLY (same deal, three bugs...) - bathroom light Linoleum now, today, in process of being put back in and toilets reseated. Maybe today, but history shows that it may take the rest of this week. There have already been three different crews on the job. Four, if you count the ineffectual talkative plumber (who is saved from my wrath due to his love for dogs and lack of plumbers crack, plus suggestions over where to have fun in the area). SOOOOOOO DONE! But then my usual, sweet, grateful self kicks in and says, I really do like the house, and the neighborhood is quiet. I am glad Peter is enjoying his new job assignment, and I am thrilled to death at the opportunities available for work, adventure and play. So, /rant over. I have lived through a lot of bad, and this is just first world problems. If this is the worst fate has in store - then I am a happy camper.
