Re: UNA-UK ( UNA Gloucestershire County ) As some are aware last night I attended a discussion which was chaired by Malcolm Evans OBE ( Chair of the United Nations Subcommittee on the Prevention of Torture ) at The Victory Rooms, Burlington House, Cheltenham Spa. Prior to the discussion I was happy to have spoken with another gentleman who was attending. Unfortunately there is a concern that firstly there that booked discussions / meetings are not receiving enough Promotion to bring more awareness and more people to these meetings so I m going to explore further as to how this may be overcome. It was mentioned that there was also a wish to bring some younger members to listen to discussions and join in. I realize that many people especially the younger persons do not feel that discussion on Human Rights is of great interest. I must say that it is imperative that we all join these discussions as best possible because as we add more voices we come to voice our concerns in a louder manner and it is much more likely we can assist in bringing about fair and cohesive changes that benefit the majority rather than the few which has been somewhat of an ongoing concern. Presently I am waiting for acknowledgement that the next discussion which shall hopefully take place on the 19th of May, 2014 with two Speakers has managed to gain the room booking and can go ahead at the same venue. My hopes that we can bring new members to the meetings shortly and create invigorating discussion for the benefit of society. Creating innovative mechanisms for the future must be a driving force.
