Received number 10 a couple of days back and just getting to it now. 1) love the saying better late than never. 2) lived in Am Samoa from ages of 5-7.5 yrs 3) had the Hong Kong Flu as an infant. 4) held the OHHS record for longest discus throw in track, choked at districts and missed going to state. 5) gained admission to UofW after calling to follow up after receiving a rejection letter. 6) rowed for UofW crew and was fortunate enough to travel to Boston to compete in the Head of the Charles. I caught a terrible flu and was sick as a dog the whole trip. We took 1st place, but I came back and quit the team. Why? Because I didnt have medical insurance and was too stupid to walk down to the UofW hospital and get some meds. One of my biggest regrets. 7) Have worked over 25 different jobs since the age of 16. From picking berries, cleaning fish, working the lines at washington bulb, filing tickets, fast food, soldering motherboards, stocking shelves, produce, cashier, asst manager apt, asst manager pier 1, asst manager the avenue clothing, running a john deer tractor mower, drop out prevention program aid seattle schools, ohpd (patrol, crime prev, dare, swat, bike officer, neighborhood watch, NNO), truck driver furniture delivery and sales, flipped a couple of condos in OH, own rental property, cabinet design and sales. Jack of a lot of trades, but master of none. 8) Used food stamps from about 16-18years, dad thought it was important that we learn how to shop for food $55 a week for 5. There was a lot of frozen pizza and banquet frozen chicken eaten those days. 9) Met my hubby playing volleyball at the base gym. I would go to train on the treadmill to prepare for law enf fitness testing and eventually join in. Ron would take all the girls out for ice cream at McDs afterwards. 10) Was offered employment once on the condition that I cleaned up my credit. My sissys bailed me out, paid off $5,000 in credit delinquencies and I think it took me 3 months to pay them back. I was lucky to learn the lesson early about credit, but never really learned how debt could hold someone back from doing what they really loved til much later.
