Recent floods are national disaster, Geelani: Sachnews Jammu Kashmir Srinagar, September 28: While terming the recent floods as national disaster, Chairman Hurriyat Syed Ali Geelani appealed people on the occasion of Eid-ul-Zuha to donate the skin (Khaal) of the sacrificed animals for the flood hit victims of the state and said that the way in which the Kashmiri nation helped each other at this hour of grief has generated a new hope of life in the whole nation and we hope that this enthusiasm will remain unchanged in future also. Hurriyat chairman today held a meeting with the officials of the central relief committee in which chairman committee Peer Saifullah informed him about the collection and distribution of the relief material and received instructions for the future. The meeting also discussed the rescue and relief work of the activists of the Bandipora district and it was very much appreciated. Besides 80 quintal of rice the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat officials of this district also distributed vegetables, sugar, flour and cloths amoung the flood affected. Today a delegation of a Delhi based NGO which comprises of doctors and traders met with Geelani sahib at his residence. The delegation closely observed the relief distribution process of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat and appreciated the work. They also expressed their desire for helping them in distributing the relief material amoung the deserving people. While giving details of the destruction caused by the recent floods in Jammu & Kashmir to the delegation, the Geelani sahib said that the government machinery was washed away by the flood water on the very first day of floods and is still untraced. We are very thankful to those people who in this situation came from other states of India to help the needy people and we expect from them that during their Kashmir tour they will also notice that how India left the people of Kashmir to die and they don’t want Kashmiries to come out of this coma and start a new life. Tehreek-e-Hurriyat today held medical camps under the supervision of Mohammad Ashruf Laya at Rashipora, Gulzarpora and Ghatdehat areas of Pulwama district in which free medicine and treatment was given to the hundreds of patients. Dr. Bashir Ahmad was also in this medical team who treated many patients and advised medicine for them. A team led by Raja Mehraj-ud-din which comprised of Dr. Naseem Geelani visited Naikbhag and another team lead by Syed Imtiyaz Hyder visited Maidanpora Chatabal and distributed ration and other relief material amoung the affected people of the area. During this process many delegation of people complained that the stagnant water in these areas pose major threat of diseases. A team led by district president Islamabad (Anantnag) Mir Hafizullah distributed ration and other relief material among the affected people of Mankehal, Aarampora and Urenhall areas expressed sympathy with them.
