Recently, I got caught up in reading blog posts about Ben Sauer. Its nearly impossible to avoid, especially if youre from WNY. As I sat reading post after post after heart wrenching post, I became aware of the little boy in front of me, vying for my attention. I realized how unfair it was to him that I was spending my time reading about a very sick little boy, when here he was, right in front of me, not sick, not dying, just wanting my undivided attention. I owed it to him, to myself, to the memory of children like Ben, to stop reading and focus on what was happening in front of me, in my own home. What happened to the Sauer family is unthinkable, tragic.... And can happen to anyone, at any time. Dont take your kids for granted. Dont get caught up in other stories while their own is being written before your very eyes. It will be finished before you know it. Enjoy the now. I plan to.
