Regarding previous post from Anna McCall: About me; When you grow up poor and you see your mother scrambling for food and work everyday, when you look around your neighborhood and see condemned and boarded up houses. When you see broken souls, spirits and hopelessness. When you experience prejudice and systemic discrimination on a almost daily basis and a education system that seems to not work ( on purpose ) in the richest country on earth, and are messaged that you are less than constantly. When you try to stand up over and over again and continue to get knocked down, when you speak out against the onslaught of injustices that you face and are only ostracized by the people that you sought justice from. When you go into the military and lead men into combat and give your all for a country that seems to despise you; constantly getting passed over for promotions that youve earned; and been seriously wounded on three occasions, fighting for the freedoms of others while you and your family are being denied them. When your wife of 28 years, the mother of your two children dies from colon cancer because your family physician (HMO) refuses to order a colonoscopy because of the expense of the test. When you live in a country thats split between hope and hatred and in some quarters continues to treat both you and your children like second class citizens... There is no where else to go but up...
