Regarding the Mahr(marital gift) it mention in the Quran And give the women (on marriage) their dower as a free gift; [Al-Quran Ch 4 Verse 4] Its in cash or property and there is not upper limit and lower limit for mahr , Allah says in the Quran But if ye decide to take one wife in place of another, even if ye had given the latter a whole treasure for dower, Take not the least bit of it back: Would ye take it by slander and manifest wrong? [Al-Quran ch 4 Verse 20] mean there is no upper limit even gold of mountain can be given in mahir and there no lower limit for the mahar , prophet Mohammed(pbuh) said that , Verse of Quran teach you wife as mahr is valid , if any one has no money and he learn Quran or he memorized the few chapter or verse of Quran and in Mahr he will teach Quran how much he knows its valid. If the Divorce take place unfortunately, If the Husband want to given the divorce , the completely Maher must be given to his divorcing wife , If he paid half ,he has to paid the remaining while divorcing. If the Divorce take by the will of the wife is called Khula or Nikha-e-Fask, very well she can says Take the mahr and give me divorce or if the Husband ill treat her and she went to Qazi , then the qazi will decide how much Mehr should be paid after analyzing the whole situation, Qazi will decide Half mehr or fully meha to be paid. If the Husband with his will want to give the full mehar or if he paid at the time married, if he dont want return back with his free will his also allow. But If the Husband want to pay in like monthly installments methods is not allowed. It should be full at the time of Nikah or Half now and half later or completely later on..
