Flag FAQ’s When does practice start? Generally the second week of August —one or two practices per week. When do games begin? Generally, the first week in September. Games are usually on Saturday mornings and occasionally Sunday afternoons. How long does the season last? A seven-game schedule is completed by the final week in October. Where do we play? Depending on your coach, you will play in the Bonner Springs YMCA League at Bonner Springs High School or the Olathe YMCA League at an Olathe Middle School. Where do we practice? Depending on your coach, DeSoto High School, Mill Creek Middle School, or Belmont Elementary School. How is the game structured? 5-on-5 Flag football. 8-10 players on a team. All players are eligible receivers. Center snaps to quarterback who must hand the ball or pass it forward. High level of player involvement, low level of contact. However, mouthpieces are required. How do I know what team I am on? Teams will be formed on July 31. Coaches will contact players assigned to their team by August 7. Requests for specific coaches or to play on a team with certain players will be honored if possible.
