Religion alas, on the African continent, has moved in recent times beyond the luxury of mere abstraction or academic exercises. It has leapt to the forefront of global concern where its claims are promoted, not by mystic incantations and the institutions of ruminant clerics, but by the latest technology of mass destruction, randomly unleashed for the maximum exaction on innocent humanity. It threatens the very fabric of a continent that, only decade or so ago, considered herself immune from the lunacy of faiths, a landmass that is barely recovering from centuries of physical wreckage and evisceration.
