Religion and Recovery don’t mix …and why! I have never - TopicsExpress

Religion and Recovery don’t mix …and why! I have never been to an NA meeting where I did not hear “NA is a spiritual fellowship … not a religious one.” To my knowledge AA emphasizes this non-Religion position as heavily as does NA. So the question I have for everyone who chooses to read this post is … how come so, so, so many people who claim to be living Recovery and following the 12 Steps continue fanatically to push Jesus and Christianity on all the rest of US? Why can’t they get the message that Religion and Recovery don’t mix. Religions are rigid and dogmatic (do as you’re told …don’t think). Religions expect unquestioned belief in whatever you are told… no matter how stupid it appears. Religions expect you to believe there are “experts” (priests, ministers, and other “official” messengers) who know all the answers and will share them with us morons as we herd into every mass. Another interesting “contradiction” which everyone should ponder is… what would happen on all this non-religious Jesus sites… if people started praising Allah or Buddha… or any other “god”? Does anyone reading this believe they would be allowed to continue “spreading their blasphemy”? The Christian lunies would be very, very, busy getting those wooden crosses built. Because only the god of “their understanding” is acceptable on the sites they control. Let’s give a little example. When I decided to start working my 12th Step here online… I joined 20 sites who claimed to welcome anyone involved in the process of Recovery. Today, I am only allowed on 7. I have been kicked of and banned from 13 of these lying, hypocritical, corrupt sites… who refuse to allow any discussions which oppose or question their view of what Recovery is. The most blatant fact of all is… every site I have been banned from is controlled by people who openly claim their allegiance to the AA fellowship and worship the Big Book as a Bible and Bill W. as a god. They also allow and support anyone who pushes Jesus as god and savior (rather than us saving ourselves by embracing the 12 Steps) and all attempts to convert 12 Steppers to Christianity. Spirituality asks us as to develop a personal relationship directly with god (a conscious contact) and be personally directed by god’s will and not some imperfect human being who claims to have a superior contact with god… making OUR contact not only unnecessary but unlikely… since we have not been “ordained” by the Religious hierarchy and therefore are not “qualified” to know what we are talking about. And even with all this repeated emphasis on OUR fellowships not being religious … we are bombarded day after day… hour after hour… minute after minute… with Jesus is God posts by people who claim to be following a 12 Step program of Recovery. Please… I’ll admit I’m STUPID and can’t figure it out. So somebody please tell me how this “contradiction” makes sense… or how anyone who claims to be involved in Recovery… is unable to see and understand how ludicrous their religious fervor is? Namaste… Shalom… Salem Aleichem… god bless… live with love… and a personal conscious contact with god For those new to Recovery… heed well this warning… be very, very, wary when joining any site online with advertises it support Recovery… then allows, supports and pushes Jesus and Christianity but opposes any other spiritual belief. This is not the Way of the 12 Steps or the Way of Recovery. There is much evil online… as much… and most often… far more than anywhere in the “real” world.
