Remember my post the other day about Jerry Blackburns spectacular response to the challenge I (Rhonda Kay) presented on his Facebook page about animal welfare in Tazewell County? Well, like ripples in a pond, the impacts of that conversation just keep spreading. I dont know how this election will turn out. But I think its pretty safe to say at this point that both candidates for Board of Supervisors, Southern District, are paying attention to the animal welfare issue and the difficulties our shelter faces. It seems that there has been some significant lack of communication within the county about the animal shelter and its clear that many officials had no idea how dire the situation is on Lynn Hollow Road. Determining where the fault for this lies is not ARCs priority. Pointing fingers will solve nothing. The important thing is that after six months of trying to schedule a meeting with members of the animal shelter board, we now have one at 10:00 Tuesday morning. As far as ARC is concerned, this is NOT a confrontational meeting. We think the shelter is one of the greatest resources in Tazewell County and have no reason to attack it or its board members. No, instead we view this meeting as a thank God we can finally all get in the same room at the same time and come up with some good ideas kind of meeting. I look forward to it immensely because I dont expect any differing of views or even a need to present an argument about anything. Nope. Tuesday is going to be a good day, and Im excited!
