Remembering Death A Poets Epitaph read As follows: I came in to this world without any garments, and leaving it with a piece of cloth, oh my God What a journey I embarked to have these two yards of cloth. They took away, my wedding ring as well as a gain, some were whining, that they hoped to benefit more from me, and some were joyous that I was a barrier for their gain, Alas, I worked for myself to find some in the hereafter for me. Quran Says: And We shall inherit from him (at his death) all that he talks of (i.e. wealth and children which We have bestowed upon him in this world), and he shall come to Us alone. ( سورة مريم , Maryam, Chapter #19, Verse #80) They indeed are losers who denied their Meeting with Allah, until all of a sudden, the Hour (signs of death) is on them, and they say: “Alas for us that we gave no thought to it,” while they will bear their burdens on their backs; and evil indeed are the burdens that they will bear! ( سورة الأنعام , Al-Anaam, Chapter #6, Verse #31) He is the Irresistible, (Supreme) over His slaves, and He sends guardians (angels guarding and writing all of one’s good and bad deeds) over you, until when death approaches one of you, Our Messengers (angel of death and his assistants) take his soul, and they never neglect their duty. ( سورة الأنعام , Al-Anaam, Chapter #6, Verse #61) Say: “The angel of death, who is set over you, will take your souls. Then you shall be brought to your Lord.” ( سورة السجدة , As-Sajda, Chapter #32, Verse #11) And the stupor of death will come in truth: “This is what you have been avoiding!” ( سورة ق , Qaf, Chapter #50, Verse #19) “The enjoyment of this life is short, life of the hereafter is much better who fear Allah, and rest assured you will not be wronged to the fiber of the Date-stone. Wheresoever you may be, death will overtake you even if you are in fortresses built up strong and high!” And if some good reaches them, they say, “This is from Allah,” but if some evil befalls them, they say, “This is from you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم).” Say: “All things are from Allah,” so what is wrong with these people that they fail to understand any word? ( سورة النساء , An-Nisa, Chapter #4, Verse #77 & 78) Verily, those who say: “Our Lord is Allah (Alone),” and then they stand firm, on them the angels will descend (at the time of their death) (saying): “Fear not, nor grieve! But receive the glad tidings of Paradise which you have been promised! ( سورة فصلت , Fussilat, Chapter #41, Verse #30) They will never taste death therein except the first death (of this world), and He will save them from the torment of the blazing Fire, ( سورة الدخان , Ad-Dukhan, Chapter #44, Verse #56)
