Respected Narendra Modiji! Being a teacher, I was extremely happy - TopicsExpress

Respected Narendra Modiji! Being a teacher, I was extremely happy when I read in the newspapers today, “ TEACHERS’ Day PM’s speech a must view for all schools” But may I have the audacity to ask, if you are aware of the perpetual injustice and discrimination against the teaching community, if not, please go through the following. Would you please address these problems.? Regards, Dr. Mustafa Kamal Sherwani *************************** Injustice with Teachers ******************* Every year on September,5, which is celebrated as Teachers Day in India, they (teachers) are lauded as the architect of society, but do you know; 1. No medical facility is available to the teachers of Universities and government aided degree colleges, as they are not treated as government servants. Can you imagine the height of this atrocious injustice with these architects of society that in this age of most expensive treatments, even a peon is availing the medical facility but it is denied to teachers. 2. The age of retirement in higher education is totally lacking uniformity. In the central universities it is 65 years, which has been followed by many states, but in U.P. it stands at 62. The government has been making promises to raise it but in vain. 3. If the date of birth of a teacher falls on July,1, he will retire on June, 30, but if it is July 2, then he will be given the full one year extension up to next June,30, which is known as session benefit. One fails to understand the rational basis of this classification. If at all it was having any logic, it was when the academic session in the Universities started from July, 1, but now it has lost its rationale as the academic session in all the universities commences from July, 16. I appeal to the entire teaching community to boycott all the functions of ‘ Teachers’ Day and refuse to accept any award unless the government concedes the aforementioned most genuine demands of teachers by that time.
