Rest in Peace precious Boris. You are loved and you mattered for - TopicsExpress

Rest in Peace precious Boris. You are loved and you mattered for many. He came to us with a broken spirit. At 16-17 years old, his frail little body was wasting away from starvation from a life of total neglect. The instant I held him in my arms, he knew he was safe and loved and try as he did to rally, sadly his little body could no longer withstand the trauma it had endured Yes he came to us broken, alone, battered and wondering, I am sure, what he did so wrong. As I held him so closely in my arms for the last time, he let out the tiniest of little howls and I realized he was thanking me for the gift of dignity, loving arms to embrace him and letting him know how much his life matters. Yes rescue is so bitter sweet and sometimes I wonder myself how I can do what I do, however to be at the side of a dying animal as he licks my hand, thanking me for letting him know how much his life mattered, reminds me why and how I continue to do what I do. RIP sweet boy, you are once again happy, healthy and pain free. We will look to the skies for your very bright and shining star and take comfort in knowing you are now at peace tw, LNPB There is a cycle of love and death that shapes the lives of those who choose to travel in the company of animals. It is a cycle unlike any other. To those who have never lived through its turnings or walked its rocky path, our willingness to give our hearts with full knowledge that they will be broken seems incomprehensible. Only we know how small a price we pay for what we receive; our grief, no matter how powerful it may be, is an insufficient measure of the joy we have been given. ~Suzanne Clothier
