Review: Higashi no Eden - Eden of the East. First thing that - TopicsExpress

Review: Higashi no Eden - Eden of the East. First thing that came to my mind after finishing this 11 episodes anime was - Eden of the East - a short nice mix of Death Note, Code Geass, Steins;Gate, with a good version of Mirai Nikki. Yes, you read it right. This anime starts with a girl named Saki Morimi and a naked guy named Akira Takizawa [at least thats what his Japanese passport says] with a phone and a gun on his hands in front of White House. This naked guy saves Saki from the police somehow. Turns out the guy cant remember anything about himself and has 8.2 billion yen in virtual cash in his phone. Why cant he remember anything? Why does he have so much money? Telling anymore will be spoiling. Story: This anime was one of the most interesting and refreshing stories. In 11 episodes, it was concluded nicely which is very rare but there are some cliffhangers in the end. Its a mystery that makes you ask after every episode, Whats gonna happen next? It also has some mystery and sci-fi bits with a bit of action. Animation: Done by Production I.G. Need I say more? The character designs were fantastic. The OP and ED animations were extraordinary. Sound: This anime has a very good English dub so I didnt bother checking the Japanese one. The music was nice. The OP and ED were too good. You gotta watch and listen them over and over again. Character: This might be a weak point of the anime. Only a few characters were focused on and other than those, There are no notable characters talk about. And characters didnt get much development wither which isnt something you wish for in a short anime. Enjoyment: Now as I said - First of all, Id like to talk about the kinds of anime I like. I mainly like thrillers, be that a criminal, psychological or mystery thriller. Eden of the list has various elements such as Action, Comedy, Mystery, Drama, Romance, Sci-Fi. But I like to think of it as a mystery thriller. There is the similarity with Death Note even though Death Note was mainly a psychological thriller. Secondly, the protagonist of this anime resembles in Lelouch. How? I wont spoil you. Third, I get bored slash discouraged easily. I am so lazy that I feel watching an anime is like working so I dont watch something for a long hour continuously. But I did finish this short anime in one sitting. It kept me interested. What is going to happen next? as the same thing happened with Steins;Gate. [I know S;G came out later] Lastly, Mirai Nikki was terribad. But this anime has the usage of cell phone just as much as that. Not in a terrible way though. In a very unique way. Pluses +Unique and interesting story +Akira is an amusing fellow +The flow +The animation, OP and ED along with soundtracks +Short Minuses -Not many notable characters -The romance was a bit meh. Thats about it. I left out some stuff in this review because I thought those might cover up the first few episodes. I dont wanna spoil 2-3 starting episodes of a 11 episodes anime. Picture related. The new trending Doge meme is based on a breed of dog called Shiba/Shibe Inu. In this anime, Akira has a dog named Mameshiba. Almost like meme-shiba lol. Rating [Personal] - 10/10 Rating [Formal] - 9/10
