Richard Runs....Product Review - EventClips TODAYS runner leads a charmed life. You want detailed statistics on the run youve just completed? No problem. Heres a watch that will work out your pace, where you ran, how long it took you, how many calories you burned, your heart rate and your cadency. Within seconds of completing that run, its on your social media channel. You probably completed that run in trainers using the latest technology, lightweight materials fit for an elite athlete. You will have been wearing the latest in sweat-wicking clothing, designed to keep you cool on hot days and warm on cool days. Anti-blister socks. Body glide, to stop the chafing when you do a long run. Anything you can think of to make your run easier, there is something out there for you. Often at great cost. Sometimes available from Mike Ashleys Emporium of Tat (which is actually bloody good for cheap and basic running stuff). But when it comes to race day, how do you attach that race number to your t-shirt? The humble safety pin. You have to go through the process of attaching them to your expensive gear, cursing at the fact its left a hole in your £40 Nike top, sometimes falling off, sometimes pricking your finger when attempting to reattach it. Luckily, there is a solution. And its as cheap as chips. Event Clips are a relatively inexpensive but superb alternative to safety pins. Their website declares they are a proven replacement to safety pins for securing , race, event numbers to competitors clothing...No More Holes, No Magnets, Will Not Rub. New Unique SnapLock Fastener...Invented and made in Britain. Only £1.99 for pack of 4. And its true. I bought two packs of them - they threw in a third pack for free - off their website, which were amazingly delivered the next day, in time for a weekend race. For a kick-off, theyre dead easy to attach. They work a bit like press-studs. Place one side of them under your shirt and then clip on the front plate. Easy. Itll take a lot to remove them. After my last Great North Run (where I ended up in the medical tent) the doctors had to rip the number off my shirt because the EventClips wouldnt budge. You can also personalise them, providing you buy them in bulk. They dont leave a mark on your clothes, either. Just a small dimple, which washes out. If you take part in a lot of events, I can certainly recommend them. Especially that smug feeling you get when you see others fumbling around on the start line on a cold November day trying to attach their numbers using safety pins. Their after-sales support was fantastic too. A personal email asking for feedback and offering any assistance. In this big-money automated world, that goes a long way.
