Road Trip To Alabama Day 5: Spent most of the day cruising here and there throughout Northern and Central Arizona. Left Prescott and drove through sprinkles as the desert Southwest summer monsoon has arrived I drove into the greater Phoenix area to the suburb of Mesa and woke Marv and Karen Smith Schuler up at the Valley Del Sol Senior (snowbird) Resort Park. I visited with them and their four cats (who I used to live with) and then we went out for lunch at the Country Buffet. I bid them farewell and headed out through Apache Junction and Superior to Globe and Show Low and enjoyed a coolish and cloudy yet incredibly scenic drive trying to reach New Mexico by dark. I fell 15 miles short and am in a rustic motel in a town on highway 60 called Eagar/Springerville. The sunset was spectacular. Just one of those wonderful afternoons to cruise...
