Rockets defeat Bobcats 100-89. Houston goes to 48-22 while Charlotte falls to 32-35. A tight game through out until the Rockets pulled away late. James Harden had 31 points a game high. Dwight Howard returned to the starting lineup after missing the last three games with a cyst in his left ankle. Foul trouble was an issue for Howard tonight. Rockets have won four in a row overall and seven straight over the Bobcats. Houston is now 17-5 in 22 all time meetings with Charlotte. They are 22-5 against the Eastern Conference this season. Rockets will be off until Thursday when the 76ers visit Toyota Center. Houston is just one game behind the Clippers for the third spot in the Western Conference but LA has the tiebreaker in two scenarios. One is they have the season series win and they are a division leader and Houston is not meaning the Rockets will have to finish with a better record in the regular season than the Clips to catch them. These teams wrap up a four game season series Saturday in the Bayou City. Rockets have 12 games remaining in the regular season. The 2014 NBA Playoffs begin on April 19. Rockets are 20-14 on the road and are one win from their first winning road season since the 2007-2008 season. Houston is two wins from their first 50 win season since the 2008-2009 season when they were 53-29. They would have to win out to reach 60 wins for the first time in franchise history. If they go 11-1 in their final twelve games they can have 59 wins which would set a team record for most wins in a season. They were 58-24 in the 1993-1994 season their first NBA championship season.
