Parker has conducted professional orchestras in the U.S., Peru, Russia, Poland and the Czech Republic and presently serves as Director of Orchestral Activities at Marywood University in Scranton, PA. The concert will include favorites by Mendelssohn and Brahms plus more exotic works including Chabrier’s Habanera and de Falla’s Three Cornered Hat Suite #1. Closing the 2014-15 Classical Concert Series will be a powerful performance to mark the 100th Anniversary of the “War to end all Wars” with a concert entitled The Sounds of War. The evening will feature the world premier of our own composer in residence, Dr. Bruce Brown’s Love, Death and War in the White House: A Portrait of Woodrow Wilson in Music and Drama. Also, William Westney makes his fourth visit to Jackson to perform Ravel’s Concerto for Left Hand – an emotionally charged masterpiece composed for famous pianist Paul Wittgenstein, who lost his right hand in WWI. A emotionally moving and significant live performance experience!
