Ronald Koeman, the new Southampton manager, will seek talks with Luke Shaw, Adam Lallana and Dejan Lovren immediately after the World Cup finals in an attempt to prevent a summer exodus from St Mary’s. Having allowed Rickie Lambert to move to his home-city club of Liverpool, Southampton have so far turned down offers from Liverpool for Lallana and Lovren and from Manchester United for Shaw. Lovren, Shaw and Lallana had already informed Southampton of their desire to leave and, although it will clearly be difficult to dissuade the players amid offers from the two most successful clubs in English football history, they believe that the appointment of Koeman could change the situation. Southampton are adamant that they have no need to sell their best players, despite having £22?million outstanding to pay on players from previous transfer windows, as well as a training ground bill that has risen to £30? million and been financed by loans from Katarina Liebherr, the owner. Koeman said that he will do everything to keep the clubs best players. [Source: Daily Express]
