Rooster Once upon a time; there lived 3 friends -working at Airport. Their names were Pehlaram, Dujaram and Teejaram. Pehlaram was known as F S.W. (Fattu, Shirking Worker),Dujaram was known as Sf.C. W. (Submitted for Complication Worker) and Teejaram was known as R.C.W. (Resourceful Corrupt Worker). To think of it one can find these types of persons in any office or organization. The night shift had began, officers reported on duty; all smartly dressed in white uniform, the brass shining in their epaulette and spotless white shoes . In one word they can be described as “smart. “ The first flight had landed and the passengers trickled in the baggage hall. Pehlaram surveyed the passengers and decided to take a position behind a pillar so that he was not visible. He succeeded in not attending to any passengers. Dujaram was at his best in raising objections about an article, called his supervisory officer and succeeded in detaining the article for expert’s assessment. In the meantime Teejaram had attended to 5 passengers, cleared them, duty charged where required. There were quick hint for the “assisters” of passengers who seemed satisfied with the clearance. The busy night brought fleet of flights; the passengers of all hue and diversity trooped in and out of the baggage hall, some cursing and others happy to get neatly cleared. One could notice, Pehlaram was trapped while escaping from his counter by supervisor. He meekly began attending a passenger with lots of baggage. The passenger had a Rooster with him which was a juggernaut. The Rooster had to be detained till permission from appropriate authority was brought. Customs had no arrangement for such detention and thus the Rooster became the responsibility of Pehlaram. Passenger disowned the Rooster and left the country after a short stay. Rooster became the liability for Pehlaram as the custodian. Dujaram as a case file officer; assessed the value of Rooster as Re. 50000/- and proposed penalty of Re.50,000/- too. The adjudicating authority accepted the proposal. The file moved on to the recovery officer who slept over it for some time. Rooster became centre of attraction for all 3 officers, whenever they sat down for drinks. Pehlaram was the saviour. But one day, Teejaram prevailed and Rooster vanished into them as kababs ! Everyone forgot about the Rooster till the day Dujaram became Recovery officer. He promptly brought the file to the notice of Commissioner. The spectre of Rooster became the highlight of monthly report. Recovery of Re. One lakh was impossible as Airport had become non-functional. Division DC became desperate and called his officer i/c preventive, he ordered, the recovery must be made and Rooster must go from monthly report. All three of them were drinking and Teejaram was getting the blame. Pehlaram was cursing his luck; he will have to make good part of the money from his overtime earning. Teejaram told him not to worry. He told them, he will get the recovery done by arranging the road blocks, tapping the Unit holders and others. He was smiling within; he need not worry about extra money for next six months. Rooster Devo Bhava !
