Row as SNP MPs refuse to support air attacks on IS in Iraq. Michael Settle. UK Political Editor. Saturday 27 September 2014 Herald THE SNP have been accused by Labour of playing juvenile politics after voting against the proposal to launch airstrikes on the Islamic State (IS) in Iraq. Angus Robertson, the Nationalists foreign affairs spokesman, expressed revulsion at the militia groups reign of terror, which includes beheadings, crucifixions and rapes, and agreed international co-operation was required. However, during an impassioned eight-hour debate, the Moray MP yesterday told the Commons that because there was no coherent plan to win the peace in the Coalitions motion then SNP MPs would vote against it. {The work of the Northbriton censors allowing rants is superb} David Lafferty, Paisley • I lived in Baghdad when it was very safe and contrary to all the lies we are told it was a great life style and amazing place to live. 100% I blame the greed of the UK and America for everything thats happening. We can go into these places as often as we like but the more we do it the more we are hated. You cant plunder nations, kill hundreds of thousands of their women and children in our illegal wars and expect roses to be thrown at our feet. We are now involved in long term wars whether we like it or not! Blair Meikle> David Lafferty, Paisley • Clueless, you were a pandered European who saw what they were allowed to and asked zero questions. David Lafferty, Paisley> Blair Meikle • No you are clueless, I travelled all over Iraq and I could go anywhere I liked. It is people like you who are brainwashed by the British state. People like you make me really angry, you believe everything you read and are told, what a very sad person. Blair Meikle> David Lafferty, Paisley • You could go where you were allowed, and never even knew I did not support UK actions in Iraq 2003 but I have also spent time there and count former Saddam security officials as friends. Like many dictatorships they took pleasure in their appearance for the no questions western business men. Andrew R M Craik, east kilbrid> Blair Meikle • your use of the word pandered says it all. Andrew R M Craik, east kilbrid • So the SNP were playing Politics by not supporting the motion. I have my doubts! The Lab Part in the past has been guilty of this very crime in the past. However when you add up all those who opposed, including those who were at a wedding, the motion, then something called conviction springs to mind, leave out the wedding guests. There is always something that stinks when the drumbeat for war has not been going for some considerable time. To me the entire thing was stage managed. Last word. I cannot stand George Galloway but return to the scene of the crimes rings true for me. Blair Meikle • Like Bosnia, SNP refuse to support actions to stop genocide. Enough said :( Peter Moseley • Fair enough. What suggestions do they have? Or is their lack of support merely born from fear of repercussions from Muslim terrorists in Scotland?
