Rulers Fresh Word Devotional With Pst. Bright Ene 29/11/2013 SAVING, THE KEY TO SURPLUS There is a treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up. Proverb 21:20 There can be no surplus without savings. Spending drains riches while saving build up wealth. It is the wisdom of saving that preserved Egypt from the destruction of famine, and established a global economy of surplus. In Genesis 41:34-36, Joseph told Pharaoh, “appoint officers over the land, and take up the fifth part (20%) of the land of Egypt … and lay up corn under the hand of Pharaoh. And the food shall be for store to the land against the seven years of famine …. That the lands perish not. Inside every harvest of today, is the extra that should be saving for tomorrow. It is foolishness to spend the whole harvest without putting aside some savings for the future use. A discipline life of savings builds preserves and sustain surplus. Deal with that ungodly urge to buy everything your eyes sees, wherever money enters your hand. You must know that what you spend reduces you and what you save establishes you financially. In Job 22:24, the bible says. “then shall thou layup gold as dust…” dust here refers to surplus and to get there u must learn to save (layup). No matter how much u earn, uncontrolled spending will keep u in perpetual cycle of financial struggle. Learn to set aside 10-20% percent after paying your tithe, as your personal savings, make it a lifelong practice. Lay up enough inheritance for your children’s children (Prov 134:22). Beloved, a man who refuses to save cannot grow financially, save today so that your finance can soar tomorrow.
