Rumors (and photos of some allegedly official documents) are spreading on mainland Chinas social network that books Yu Ying-shih (余英时), one of the most prominent ethnic Chinese historian of China/sinologist and a vigorous public intellectual figure, are being banned and removed from bookshelves in stores and online book dealers in mainland China, most possibly because of his political stance and his support of the recent Hong Kong protests. Also banned are works of several other scholars and public intellectuals who are frequently and openly critical of the CCP regime.
