SAILOR SCOREBOARD: The boys and girls cross country teams competed at the West Shore Conference Championship meet this past weekend. Seven out of twelve athletes finished in all time personal best. Leading the way for the boys was Austin Knittle followed by Ryley Miller. The girls were led once again by Heidi Decker followed closely by Emily Wagner. The team will be competing at the District meet this Saturday at LCCC. On Friday, the Varsity Football team beat Youngstown Christian by a score of 24-7. It was an excellent team effort led by a dominating offensive line and a disciplined, hard hitting defense who shut the Eagles out in the second half. The Vermilion Sailor defense forced three turnovers led by two interceptions by Jakob Yost and one interception by Louis Maynard. Scoring for the Sailors were Caine Zannoni with two touchdowns and Brenden Zannoni with one TD. Joey Rini added a 32 yard field goal and was perfect on all extra points conversions. Join us for exciting Friday night action this week as the Sailors meet Norwalk on our home turf at 7:00 PM. Pre-sale tickets are available in the main office at VHS and Sailorway. On Saturday the J.V. football team lost to Huron 20-0. It was a defensive struggle in the first half as the score was 0-0 at halftime. Unfortunately, the Huron Tigers came out on top in the second half. The sailors fought hard and battled with a very good Huron squad. The team will meet Norwalk on Saturday, October 18 at 10:00 AM in Norwalk.
