SANBA è San Basilio. Laboratori con i giovani di tutte le scuole del quartiere, un film documentario, grandi interventi di arte pubblica. sanba2014.it Descrizione ITA/ENG text SANBA_Arte Pubblica e Cinema Dopo prestigiose location quali Atlanta, Filadelfia e Lodz, larte urbana approda anche nei quartieri di Roma lontani dal centro: il 24 marzo infatti, a San Basilio, prende il via SanBa, progetto artistico audiovisivo con una duplice azione: una proposta di arte pubblica, che interesserà tre scuole del quartiere e coinvolgerà artisti di fama internazionale, e un film documentario, preceduto da un laboratorio di scrittura creativa. SanBa nasce da un idea del team creativo di WALLS (onthewalls.it) che si occupa da anni di Arte Pubblica contemporanea, in associazione con Kinesis, casa di produzione cinematografica, ed è realizzato grazie al sostegno economico di Fondazione Roma Arte e Musei, con il supporto di Zètema, Ater e Municipio Roma IV, il patrocinio dell’Assessorato allo Sviluppo delle Periferie, Infrastrutture e Manutenzione Urbana di Roma Capitale, e la collaborazione dell’Assessorato alla Cultura, Creatività e Promozione Artistica di Roma Capitale. LA PRIMA FASE DEL PROGETTO, della durata di quattro settimane, vedrà i ragazzi delle scuole elementari, medie e superiori di San Basilio impegnati in LABORATORI TRASVERSALI DI ARTI CONTEMPORANEE, tenuti da artisti ed esperti del settore. 1) Gli studenti della scuola elementare Gandhi parteciperanno a un laboratorio di muralismo espanso, che si concluderà con la creazione di un murales tridimensionale. 2) Gli allievi della media Fellini seguiranno un laboratorio distampa tipografica, sotto la guida dell’illustratrice Irene Rinaldi, che avrà come risultato la realizzazione di poster di promozione della manifestazione che saranno poi affissi dai ragazzi stessi in varie zone del quartiere 3) i liceali della superiore Von Neumann potranno scegliere di frequentare due diversi laboratori: il primo, di design urbano, tenuto dal team di architetti Orizzontale, il cui fine sarà la valorizzazione e la rigenerazione di alcune aree di San Basilio attraverso la costruzione di sedute urbanee la realizzazione di nuove aree di socialità; il secondo di scrittura creativa, tenuto da Kinesis, che si concreterà nella stesura di un sceneggiatura, finalizzata alla produzionedi un documentario sull’intero evento. Fulcro logistico di tutta l’iniziativa sarà il Centro Aldo Fabrizi, dove si terranno sia i laboratori degli studenti che speech e conferenze sull’arte rivolti agli abitanti della zona. L’intento è quello di renderli consapevoli e partecipi di questa grande proposta culturale che trasformerà radicalmente l’aspetto del tessuto abitativo circostante. AGLI INIZI DI MAGGIO INFATTI, IL PROGETTO SANBA PREVEDE UNA NUOVA E FONDAMENTALE FASE: DUE RINOMATI ARTISTI NAZIONALI E INTERNAZIONALI SARANNO CHIAMATI A DIPINGERE LE FACCIATE DI ALCUNI EDIFICI DI SAN BASILIO messi a disposizione dall’Ater, azienda territoriale per l’edilizia residenziale del Comune di Roma. Tra gli obbiettivi della manifestazione anche quello di attrarre nuovi flussi turistici dal centro di Roma a quartieri più lontani ma con forte identità e senso di appartenenza. SanBa si concluderà con una GRANDE FESTA AGLI INIZI DI GIUGNO nel quartiere e per il quartiere,a cui prenderanno parte artisti, abitanti, giornalisti, protagonisti in prima persona di un’arte non confinata negli spazi museali e dunque fruibile solo da un élite, bensì aperta alla fattiva cooperazione di cittadini, strumento di promozione culturale, di coesione sociale e di formazione di una coscienza civile: in poche parole Arte Pubblica. Il team di WALLS, sull’onda dei risultati di progetti quali “Rebibbia on the wall”, nel carcere di Rebibbia, Roma, e “Progetto Waves”, Civitavecchia, ha deciso di intraprendere questa nuova e più estesa sfida: agire in profondità e sotto il segno dell’arte in realtà degradate e complesse. Sviluppare un percorso sociale e artistico volto a risvegliare le periferie rendendole centri di diffusione culturale e mete turistiche alternative. ENGLISH||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| Following prestigious locations such as Atlanta, Philadelphia and Lodz, urban art reaches Roman neighbourhoods that are far from the city centre: on March 29th SanBa starts, an artistic, audiovisual project with a twofold action: a public art proposal, which will concern three neighbourhood schools and which will involve international artists, and a documentary film preceded from a workshop on creative writing. SanBa originates from an idea of the creative team of WALLS – which has been dealing for years with contemporary Public Art – in association with Kinesis, a film production company, and it has been created thanks to the economic support of Fondazione Roma Arte e Musei, with the support of Zètema, Ater and the public patronage of Rome’s IV District, and the collaboration of Rome’s Councillor for Culture, Creativity and Artistic Promotion. The first phase of the project, which lasts four weeks, will see San Basilio’s primary, secondary and high school students involved with TRANSVERSAL CONTEMPORARY ART WORKSHOPS, HELD BY ARTISTS AND EXPERTS IN THE FIELD UNDER THE GUIDANCE OF WALLS. 1) The students of the elementary Gandhi school will participate into a workshop on expanded muralism, which will conclude with the creation of a three-dimensional mural painting. 2) Secondary school students from the Fellini school will attend a workshop on silk-screen printing, under the guidance of illustrator Irene Rinaldi, and that will have as a result the creation of posters promoting the entire project which will then be put up by the students themselves in different areas of the district. 3) The high school students from the Von Neumann school will be able to chose between two different workshops: the first concerning urban design, held by the team of architects Orizzontale, which will aim at the enhancement and regeneration of certain areas of San Basilio through the construction of urban seats and the creation of new areas for socialising; the second workshop on creative writing, held by Kinesis, which will find expression in the drafting of a script, directed to the production of a documentary film on the whole event. The logistical fulcrum of the entire initiative will be the Aldo Fabrizi Centre, where the workshops for the students will be hosted as well as speeches and conferences on art oriented toward neighbourhood residents. The intention is to render them aware and participatory in this great cultural proposal, which will radically transform the appearance of the surrounding urban fabric. At the beginning of May, SanBa project will see a new, fundamental phase: THREE RENOWNED NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS WILL BE INVITED TO PAINT THE FAÇADES OF SOME BUILDINGS IN SAN BASILIO, which have been made available by Ater, a territorial company for the residential building of the municipality of Rome. Among the objectives of the project, the goal of attracting new tourism fluxes from the centre of Rome towards further districts, which nevertheless own a strong identity and sense of belonging. SanBa will conclude with a great celebration at the beginning of June in the district and for the district, to which artists, inhabitants, and journalists will take part, as protagonists of an art which is not confined into museum spaces – and thereby exclusively available for an elite – but rather open to the effective cooperation of the citizens: a tool for cultural promotion, social cohesion and formation of a civil conscience: in a few words Public Art. San Basilio, a working-class district on the north-eastern outskirts of Rome, is an area on the edge of conventional intellectual interests, often known only in connection to incidents of crime. The recent emergence of a youth center, the Cultural Center Aldo Fabrizi and the presence, in parallel, with the blank facades of many buildings make the district an ideal area for public art interventions. The WALLS team, in the wake of the results of projects such as Rebibbia on the wall in Rebibbia prison, Rome, and Project Waves, Civitavecchia, decided to embark on this new and more extensive challenge: to act in depth use art to challenge the complexities of urban degradation. SANBA will develop a course aimed at a social and artistic awakening of the suburbs, making them centers of cultural diffusion and alternative tourist destinations. sanba2014.it [email protected]
