SCIENCE SAFARI Mini Workshop on Science and Technology 18.10.2014 Kendriya Vidyalaya No.2 Sadras, Kalpakkam This Workshop, organized by Mobile Science and Technology Museum (MoST), is not a set of lectures. It is interactive experience. It comprises exhibits on science and technology. There will be Workshop Faculty with each exhibit. Some of the topics reinforce what the students learn in the class rooms. And, some of the topics are intended to arouse curiosity. Science Safari relies on participation of science experts to act as Workshop Faculty and the wealth of information they share with the students. The setting of the workshop encourages students to explore science use it to solve problems and engage in stimulating conversations with resource persons. Most of the exhibits are are provided by MoST and Optical Society of America, IIT, Chenna Chapter. Some exhibits were brought from IGCAR Award winning fully functional All Terrain Rover from Hindistan University also was part of the exhibits. Since the sessions are highly interactive, for logistic compulsions, we have to restrict the number of participants. Around 120 students have participated. We asked for feedback from the students. These are few of them. “Good place to learn more things”. “It was just mind blowing and awesome”. “Very interesting and had very much fun”. “Interesting and entertaining. But we need more time to enjoy it fully”. “Wonderful…But standard was a bit high (for 10th std)”. “Useful for our future studies”. “Time was less”. “Some of them(Workshop Faculty) were under confident”. “Science Safari was interesting. Interest towards science increased in a exponential rate”. “Helped us to visualize various concepts and was fun.” “made learning easy”. “Amazing experiments brought to our notice ..... felt as dived into the ocean of science”. “We could see many projects related to our subject topics”. “Spectacular looking for more”. “..helped explore new technology”. “… not enough time to see all of them”. “Just great. But we couldn’t cover all the experiments. Kind of a disappointment”. “…. Next time when when they display exhibits, just try to get us some more time”. “If there was enough time it would surely have been a memorable experience”. “Projects shown innovative and interesting. Their interaction motivating”. “We got to know many things. Minute things were stressed upon more”. “They demonstrated projects using fundamental concepts”. “The exhibits gave us a better understanding of the topics we learned in previous classes”.
