***SENIOR Results W/Ending 14th of Sept.*** Premier Division: Kentstown Rovers 2-2 Rock Celtic, Sun.14th. Rovers battled their way to a share of the spoils against Rock Celtic on sunday gone after starting very quickly. Rovers were coming off the back of 4 points from 6 in their last 2 away games and looked to start with the confidence they have in the camp at the moment. and they did. The first 20 minutes was all Kentstown as they pressed, worked and passed the ball round at tremendous pace. They were awarded with their start, when Stephen Cummins grabbed his 3rd goal in 5 games with a nice headed finish into the corner after a well worked set piece. After the goal, Rock took over and piled pressure on the Kentstown Backline for lengthy periods heading towards the interval. rock were rewarded their efforts when they struck a fine effort from the edge of the box. 1-1. Second Half, Kentstown came out in good form and it was end to end but Rock struck the 1st blow with a superb effort again from the edge of the box hitting the back of the net. Kentstown were a bit shaken after that and took 10-15 minutes to get back into the game. A loss off a player with 20 minutes to go to a 2nd yellow card didnt help their cause but Rovers found a way and with only a few minutes to go, Some excellent build up play led to Paul McDonnell teeing up Rob Coombes for a superb strike form outside the box to leave it at 2 all. A Superb team display against an experienced and Dangerous Rock side was highlighted by Eoin OConnell, Colin Lynch, Paul McDonnell and Steo Cummins. TEAM: E.OConnell, R.McDonnell, S.Doyle(c), M.Clarke, C.Lynch, D.Murphy, A.Lynch, R.Coombes, D.Lynch, P.McDonnell, S.Cummins. SUBS: B.Hudson for D.Murphy, T.Dempsey for S.Cummins, D.Carroll for A.Lynch, S.Gargan, J.Clarke. Premier Reserve: Woodview Celtic 8-2 Kentstown Rovers,Sat.13th. There was plenty of goals on show saturday in the Clash of the Champions but it wasnt exactly what Rovers wanted. Ronnie McDonnells troops came undone in Dundalk after a very below par performance by the team. Rovers were understrength due to the injury list in the Club at the moment but still had a very good squad travelling. It didnt really get going for the Rovers and found themselves 3-0 down at half time. The introduction of Colin Dixon and Shane Murtagh brought 2 goals but the damage was done at that stage. Murtagh and Dixons efforts were fine efforts but couldnt change the course of the game and so it remained a poor day at the office for the Rovers. In a tough day, Shane Gargan,Gavin Clarke and Dean Carroll shone. TEAM: D.Lynch, M.Mason, K.Lawlor(c), S.Gargan, G.Clarke, R.Cleary, N.Cunningham, B.Hudson, D.Carroll, T.Dempsey, J.Rock. SUBS: S.Murtagh for R.Cleary, C.Dixon for M.Mason. C Reserve: Kentstown Rovers 3rds 0-4 Rossin,Sat.13th. Rovers had the bare 11 as already said, due to the injury list within the Club, but still for an hour on Saturday, they were well in this game and only succumbed to late goals as bodies and minds got tired. Kentstown started brightly and the ever willing Jordan Ogunyemi was a constant threat in the Rossin defence. Having created a chance or 2 for himself, Rovers grew in confidence. Sean McDonnell came close twice and should have scored, Ogunyemi again and Dave Farrell. Rossin took the lead from a corner just before half time but Rovers came our 2nd half and had a real go but it wasnt to be. Rossin scored 3 late goals to make it look more comfortable than it was and took away from the effort and performance of a very under strength Rovers side. In a tremendous team effort, Ogunyemi, Paul McGrath, Dave Farrell and Shane Barry were the pick of the bunch. TEAM: A.Crowley, Sean Cummins, D.Farrell, E.Lynch, L.Lynch, S.Lynch, P.McGrath(c), S.Barry, J.Fitzgerald, S.McDonnell, J.Ogunyemi.
